The Painted Vulture, An American Mystery Bird

The painted vulture from The Doomsday Book of Animals by David Day

The Painted Vulture is one of the mysteries of North American ornithology. In the travels of naturalist William Bartram, published in 1791 he describes a new species of vulture that he saw in Florida.

Superman Hates Animals, Part 2

This is a continuation of the previous review of DC’s World’s Finest Comics, Volume 3. Previously in Superman Hates Animals, Part 1 we found that superman is not above mutilating elephants, killing Chinese dragons, and dragging European dragons through a hostile environment just so his best friend can punch them. Here I shall prove that Clark Kent  is also an irresponsible pet owner.

Superman Hates Animals, Part 1

I was originally going to put this as a single post but it got rather long so I am going to split it in two...

Two weeks ago I borrowed a book from the public library. This book was the Archive Editions of DC’s World’s Finest Comics, Volume 3. This volume archived World’s Finest Comics # 102 – 116 spanning the years 1959 to 1961.

As I read through these old comic books something stood out to me and it wasn’t the robots and monsters that abounded during the late Silver Age. Nope it was the fact that Superman seems to really dislike animals, both real and imaginary.Don't read if you don't like 50+ year old spoilers.

My First Post

Hi there, I am Tamara Henson and I am starting this blog to talk about things that interest me. Namely animals. Real, cryptid, mythological, or extinct, all have a place here.

Crytodraco itself was chosen to be the name of this blog because it typifies every aspect of this blog. It means 'Hidden Dragon' and so covers the cryptozoology and mythology aspects. It is also a now unused name for a real animal, the dinosaur Cryptosaurus eumerus. Cryptosaurus was for a long time known as Cryptodraco but the name Cryptosaurus has precedence so this name also covers zoology and paleontology.

It seems Cryptosaurus is so hidden I could not even find a decent picture of one. So here is a close relative Minimi from Australia. It is close to the life appearance of this enigmatic dinosaur which is this blogs namesake.
